Planning your initial
visit.
1. Bring your eyeglasses and any prescriptions for glasses or contacts
that you may have.
2. Do not use contact lenses for two weeks if currently wearing soft
lenses and a minimum of six weeks if wearing gas permeable or hard
lenses.
3. The initial pre-operative exam will take approximately
1 hour and your eyes may be
dilated during this exam. (you may wish to bring a driver)
Although we cannot guarantee perfect vision
in all cases, clinical studies have shown with the latest technology
of CustomVue, 100% can pass a drivers vision test, 98% are 20/20
or better, and 70% are better than 20/20 following the procedure.
Proven results show that the correction is very successful however
you may still need corrective lenses to achieve maximum clarity
for certain needs. People over 40 who have their distance vision
corrected may need reading glasses after the procedure. An alternative
procedure is monovision, where the laser corrects one eye for near
and the other for distance. Ask your surgeon to discuss these options
with you and if monovision is of interest, we can simulate this
in the office with the use of temporary contact lenses or glasses.
